I am naturally born skinny/ dangly or sickly, I also consider myself as skinny-fat. I tend to eat a lot when I am stressed, especially when I was in college where I'm sleep deprived. I usually get into shape by dieting, but sometimes it's not enough, Yes, I look "fit" but I'm too weak or I can't sustain a strenuous activity even for a minute.

After some on and off diets and joggings around our neighborhood, I decided to enroll myself to a personal trainer in our condo Last July 2015 to improve my health, physique and of course to tone my body.

I have my PT sessions every weekend as these are the only time I could workout anytime. Although I only workout once a week it was already a great start for me physically as the workout regimens given to me could last me for a week.

I mostly did strength and endurance trainings. I also had one whole session where I had core workouts only. Up until now I am still doing my weekend workouts where I now focused more on strength/ weightlifting. At the present I am still skinny, but beneath my skinny physique are strong muscles that could carry 1 1/2 of my total weight on deadlifts HAHA! I also don't have much fat except on my tummy where I am painstakingly trying to get rid of it.

I also tried Elorde Strength and conditioning workouts together with my weekend sessions. I had my sessions in Elorde Pasay Road, Makati because it's more accessible to me after work... It's just 2 buildings away from our office.

I focused more on cardiovascular workouts here because I need to improve my endurance. I can't jog for 3 mins before. All of the reviews about their regimen being the hardest is true! It will really kick your asses so dedication, discipline and hard work is really needed. However, I think at that time, the intensity of the workouts here is not really for me as I always get too weak or dizzy after most sessions. I stopped working out here last January as I feel that I reached my plateau stage. Although I won't be permanently closing my doors for these.

After Christmas I also tried yoga for a short time in Urban Ashram Yoga

My friend and I availed their January sale to try out yoga for 15 days, I always thought that I won't break much sweat in yoga... And dang, I was totally wrong! It's the mother of all irony! it's peaceful, but my body aches every after poses HAHAHAHAHA! I have tried their kundalini yoga, FNR (Flexibility not Required-Beginner yoga), Pranayama(breathing) and FNR Athletics (yoga for athletics). All of these are beginner friendly and doesn't require much flexibility.

Urban Ashram yoga Makati branch has this urban and industrial yet cozy vibe that makes you feel stressed free within the busy streets of Ayala center. It's also a walking distance if your working Legazpi village or from Salcedo village, It's just along Rufino St.

Last March I Joined 360 fitness club in Makati

preparing for body balance
circuit on the left, kettlebell strength cooldown on the right,

I availed their 6 mos. package for me to see the programs and group classes they have. (I opted for 6 months only because I need to prepare for my boards this coming August). I tried their circuit training which is a time based workout done 30 secs each workout. It's a mix of strength, cardio and active rests. For each workout you will be given 4 levels of workouts based on your fitness level. This workout is only about 30 mins including the Finishers. I also tried their Kettlebell circuit, a 30 min Kettlebell workout; body balance, a mix of tai chi, yoga and Pilates; 360 core, a 30min core workout; and body jam which is more like a zumba.

I will definitely come back to 360 fitness club right after  my board exam. I really enjoyed in this place and I never experienced a plateau because their programs change and I don't get to do this repeatedly every week!

As of now, I'm planning to pursue yoga and boxing (they are available in our neighborhood) together with my weekend sessions. Although I still need to fix my schedule to fit them to my board exam preparations.

Yes, overall, I am still skinny, but I can definitely say I am STRONG, TONED, and HEALTHY!

Being skinny doesn't necessarily mean you are healthy. It is as unhealthy as an obese person with the manifestations felt inside our bodies rather than on the outside.
