IDINA MENZEL LIVE IN MANILA!

Sorry it took me a week after the concert to post this life changing (for me) and super exciting concert of Idina Menzel here in Manila. I am also still having a PCD also known as Post Concert Depression and my full fangirl mode for the whole week. I have also been listening to all her singles/albums and musical recordings and even replaying all the concert videos uploaded in youtube (yah... Truly my full fangirl mode).

Well, I have been a fan of her since 2005 through her movie Rent. I was still in my freshman year in high school and I was also a part of the theatre club,we were asked to create a number with the song Seasons of Love, me being as annoyingly ignorant as I am never knew that song! So I went to the nearest music store, search for any album or CD that could help me with the task and I ended up buying a VCD or Rent, and that is where my full fangirl moment started.

Anyway, it is a dream come true for me and to all her fans here in Manila to see her! Words can't explain the energy we had in her concert. It was truly magical, amazing and all magnificent words we can associate her with (HAHA! I really can't express it without being so much of a fangirl).

It was a 2 hour concert in MOA Arena, She started with Defying gravity and I was not prepared for that and I think that is the reason I was not able to record any of her videos in the concert....

video from youtube.

She sang songs from her album I Stand (which I have her whole album on iTunes) and Still I can't be still. My favorite parts were when she sang The Wizard and I;

video from youtube

When she sang No Day but today where the whole audience light up their flashlights in camera and waved it creating a constellation which makes the song more emotional.

video from youtube

I also love the time she sang her rendition of Creep by Radiohead. It was my OMG moment as she can still reach the high notes while she is sprawled on the stage.

video from youtube

My most favorite part of the concert was when she sang For Good in Acapella (pure talent at its finest). It felt so emotional and heartfelt that by the end the audience sang the last part with her like we made a new friend.

video from youtube

She also sang take me or leave me with 3 lucky people who had also have pipes! She even had a selfie with them!

I also found it amusing that she sang a part of Let it go in Filipino... It's too cute and kind of awkward for me because we never sung it in Filipino and if we ever translate the song it Filipino.. We'll be having a big problem with looking for the perfect translation. You see there is something with the Filipino language that make it hard to be translated into any other language and vice versa without totally rephrasing the whole song. Our words tend to be longer on most english words and longer for shorter english words. Sometimes one english word is a phrase when translated in Filipino.

Nevertheless it was really amusing to hear Let it go in Tagalog and even sung by Idina herself.

I love the "Idinafied" last part of Let it go! I love the alternative rock twist with it!

She also had two encores were she sang Child which will be a part of her new album and another is Tomorrow (from Annie).

It was really a dream come true to me having to see her so close (yet so far). I wsih she'll come back to Manila for another concert huhuhuhu!

Starting 2013, Art Fair Philippines exhibits and sells the best contemporary and modern from our country. The Fair aims to show the local art scene and to gather support for the Philippine Art.

The 2015 Art Fair is from February 5-8, 2015 at The Link Carpark, Ayala Center Makati.
Entrance Fee:
Regular: 150php
Student: 50php (with valid ID)
Free for students from Makati City Schools.

Below are some of the art works I love at the Art Fair.

The composition of these photographs reminds me of the old Filipino lifestyle
By: Roberto Feleo
this is one of the sculptures from the whole work of Roberto Feleo, it has a historical reference with the Basi Revolt in the Northern Ilocos that started in 1807

By: Daniel Dela Cruz

By far my most favorite exbihit in the fair. Its concept is based on the story of alice in wonderland., through metal sculpting, the artist deconstructed the story in a series of sculptures.

Another one by Daniel Dela Cruz

This is very nice in person

The nice detail/ texture of the painting above.

works by Allan Hablo

by Joe Cobcobo

by Iya Consorio

this collection is a mixture of dreamlike trance and haunt.

by Ramon Orlina

This is entitled as Single Sensation, this artwork gives me the idea of deconstructivsm with the  contradicting use of an easily abstracted material.

I interpeted it as a change of perpsective.... well it really is open to other interpretations

Other artworks that I wasn't able to get the name of the artist

The Art Fair was jampacked! but all the inspiration that you will get will make everything worth every peso and every minute you spent!

A1 driving school experience

After I graduated from college, I took a five-month break to remove all the stresses I had in school and to unwind my mind from stress, I decided to learn driving. My dad taught me the basics of driving for almost 1 1/2 months. Our village became my driving range and I eventually had the command of the car. I finally decided to have a formal training in A1 driving primarily for two purposes (1) I need driving exposure..... It's different when you only know how to drive around the village (2) CONFIDENCE... Yup! After my 1 1/2 months of training it still scares me to go on major or national roads....

I enrolled a 5 hour course in SM Bicutan which includes:

2 hr orientation
5 hr one on one training
8 hr lecture on defensive driving
2 hr free lecture on MPH

Orientation: it pretty much tackles the things you need to check before driving, car basics, driving basics etc. But I really suggest you guys attend the orientation because It'll save you pre-driving orientation time on your actual training.

Driving:

I had a Crosswind XUV as my car for the practice (it's the car I requested because it's what we have at home). I also have my student permit with me which was atleast a month old.

Day 01 ( 1 hr driving lesson)

Our route is from SM Bicutan to Paranaque Doctor's Hospital and back to SM. My instructor is Sir Aries, before hitting the road, he asked me a couple of questions what I know about driving and what are the things I haven't tried. It's important to be honest because your instructor will base his lessons on your skills. So for the first hour he taught me proper spacing between cars while driving, uses of side mirrors, head checks, signals etc. My instructor also taught me perpendicular parking and proper braking (I think I break so hard because I really want to go back alive HAHAHAHAHA!!!!)

Day 02 (2 hrs)
Our route now is from SM bicutan going to NAIA, then to Sucat road going back to betterliving via San Antonia Valley then back to Dona Soledad then to SM bicutan. This was one of my most satisfying experiences I had, this was my first to go around Paranaque and there is no traffic! Sir Aries also commented that I improved on my braking ( every after session I always practice) and car distances.

Day 03 (2 hrs)

I had a different instructor today and we just went around betterliving to practice types of manuevering and uphill/downhill driving. My instructor commended me for not practically stressing with uphill/downhill because he told me that most his students freak out. We also went to the service road to experience different traffic conditions. This session actually practiced my patience and my left leg, after this session my left knee was actually in pain due to the traffic. HAHAHAHAHA

Lectures:

I had my first lecture in SM bicutan and I was really bored to death :( maybe because the instructor talks so fast and he just reads what's on his presentation. On the other hand my second lecture which was in Glorietta 5 was fun and fast! the instructor was so engaging and he's really funny that I didn't mind looking at the time!.

I already got my driver's license before my lectures and even after having my license the lectures are still useful because it teaches practical techniques on driving, traffic conditions and being a smart and defensive driver.

I can officially call myself as a "driver" (LOL). Driving is a continuous lesson and every hit on the road means a new lesson that can either bring us back to our homes alive (LOL HAHAHA!) or not (nobody wants that!) but anyway, some few points to the aspiring new drivers there:

I really had the urge to learn driving because of my chosen profession so it's quite inevitable for me to learn it. But for others, always find a reason why you want to drive, I learned that when you are not interested in what you're doing, it would really take some time to have a grasp on it.

ALWAYS BE CALM. (Enough said)

BE A QUICK THINKER WHEN DRIVING. You hold the lives of the pedestrians and yourself too (or your family too)

WHEN IN DOUBT, DRIVE SLOWLY OR STOP/BRAKE. Seriously for new drivers, when you're really in doubt stop and relax, let the other drivers honk at you and never mind them, because whenever in doubt and you didn't think about it properly, there will always be trouble.

SEE YOU GUYS ON THE ROAD!!!!

New Year Playlist- Florence and the Machine

I’ve recently been addicted to indie songs, they easily relieved my stress from school works and errands. Indie music were not really my thing before, I was more into the mainstream music or those songs we usually hear on the radio. One of the Bands that caught my soul is the Florence + the machine
I really love the psychedelic arrangement and beat of their songs.
I truly admire Florence Welsch’s voice because she gives each song soul and vulnerability that’s why the listeners can easily relate to each piece.
Here are some of the top songs from the Florence + the machine

Christmas on Highland Prime Steakhouse, SM Mall of Asia

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you!!!

I celebrated my Christmas with my parents yesterday in SM MOA, It is a first time for us to celebrate it outside our homes, we usually have house parties. However, this Christmas is different because all our relatives are either outside of the country or also having their celebrations elsewhere.

Me and My parents decided to have it in SM MOA for a change (my other siblings are outside of the country so it's practically me and my folks only).

We had our late lunch at Highland Steakhouse.

This was my second visit in the restaurant and I think they had a change in management because of different set of menu, interiors and services.

They have retained some of the original interior layout. The use of wood made a homey and warm ambiance in the area.

These are the new parts of the restaurant, from what I remember this was the veranda the restaurant had before, but I think this is better because the tropical setup of the country makes it not suitable to dine in at the veranda in daytime.

So now on to the food! We ordered half rack baby back ribs each for 500PHP per plate. I'm really satisfied with the serving size per plate, it's like I know where my money went without all the shenenigans. The ribs are tender and delicious, but I think it has too much sauce for my liking but It's great!

We also ordered 1 serving of Arizona Summer Salad for 350php. Our waiter, Aljur, told us that the salad is for sharing up to 3 people and truth be told that I was indeed for 3 to 4 servings actually.... IT'S A LOT!

We also had spaghetti carbonara for 350 php, it is also for sharing up to 3 people. Unlike other carbonaras I had this one is my favorite because it has a lot of toppings (BACON and mushroom!).

We really had a good time dining here, the ambiance was great, it is totally different from the christmas chaos happening in SM MOA and the view by the seaside is really great.
