AMA 2014, red carpet favorites!

I always love to watch these award shows (like AMAs, Oscars, Grammys, Golden globes, etc.) because of the artistry, entertainment and the fashion! Of course I would not let this year's AMAs.

Nicki Minaj
I'll try not to exaggerate, but I think this is the first time I really loved the Nicki Minaj's style! the black makes a very good silhouette on her, although it looks simple but her personality and artistry is reflected on her clothes.

Zendaya Coleman
Wearing gold from head to toe sure shouts bold and tacky, but this is an exemption. The fluid texture of the cloth, her choice to show skin to compensate for the gold statement and the light makeup creates an illusion of elegance and glamour.

Ne-Yo
Men are expected to wear the typical coat and tie on this kind of events, but that doesn't mean that you could not make your style scream best dressed.

Jessie J and Luke James
I was not expecting them to choose a minimalist style but they really rocked it!. Jessie J's sultry pantsuit matched with a simple black straight hair gives her that classy yet edgy classic look. The classy and simple rocker vibe of Luke James adds on the minimalist style of the couple.

Kate Beckinsale
She looks totally gorgeous at this white number! It's sexy yet not too revealing and it creates a very lean silhouette for her.

Gigi Hadid
I love this simple yet avante garde pantsuit of Gigi, the cuts and the pop of blue makes it look perfect for AMAs

Matthew Morrison

Opting for a classic look rather than the typical avante garde approach of most celebrities in music awards show could make you stand out.

Giuliana Rancic
She looks fabulous in this blue number, it makes her look very tall and slim, and the slit is not too over the top.

For the past two months, I have started my liking to Minimalist fashion. The clean lines, structured shape of clothes, the plain but well thought of composition of clothes and the monochromatic fashion never fail to catch my eye.

Minimalist fashion takes its inspiration on the 1990's fashion. It focuses on clean cuts, lines, structured fitting, fabric details and comfort. Patterns are a no-no for this trend, it only focuses on neutral colors and plain style. Accessories are worn with this trend, but they should be delicate, simple and personal. Fashion brands that are in Minimalist fashion are Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Jill Sanders, The Row, Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez and Zero + Mario Cornejo

Celebrities that practice Minimalist fashion are: Caroline Bessette- Kennedy, Vanessa Traina, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Olsen and Victoria Beckham.

SAVE EL HOGAR!

Shocking news was heard last November 6 for the Heritage conservation supporters. El Hogar Building in Escolta Manila is now being demolished by Manila City Hall.

photo from urban sketchers website
I have only passed by this building when I was commuting around Binondo, the beauty of the beaux-arts style building along Escolta creates a different feeling as to the normal Art Deco and Neo-classic styled building in the area.

El Hogar Filipino Building or better known as El Hogar was built in 1914. It it located in Juan Luna St. cor. Muelle de Industria in Binondo district. The Building was a wedding gift for the union of a Zobel daughter and a Peruvian Count. El Hogar was built in Beaux Arts style, it originally houses the Ayala Life Insurance company, it survived the Second World War and was bought by the Fernandez Family who still runs the building.

Manila is a culture-rich society that lost its gems to commercialism and the so-called "economic development" built by graft and corruption. This is a never ending fight for Heritage conservationists to save the precious jewels of the city from the hands of some inconsiderate developers and ignorant officials.

2014 is not a good year for heritage buildings as several buildings were mercilessly demolished without much ado. It is so sad that these buildings represented the beauty of the city will be just demolished for money's sake.

What's in my bag?

Bags are utilitarian and fashionable in nature, this is the reason why girls love and adore bags! I myself love bags and I am not too particular with brands because I always go for quality (because I always bring heavy items like my laptop), comfort (I'm petite and thin, I don't want to end my day with painful shoulders); and last but not the least I want them to be classy and stylish!

Today I'm going to show you what's in my bag in a "regular" basis (the one where I only go for strolling or a trip with friends and not the school/ work time. HAHAHA)

1. Black fringe leather hobo bag- this is my favorite bag! It has that rocker girl vibe, it's comfortable for my shoulders and I can put almost anything in it!

2. Pencil case (Jek Loader)- I can't go without my archi stuff, especially if you're always on call for work
     What's inside it?
           - (1) Pencil eraser
           - (1) Ink eraser
           - 8 GB memory card
           - 2 cases of pencil lead for mechanical pens
           - Erasing shield
           -Compass
           - 3 felt tip pens (.3, .5 and .8)
           - 9 staedler pencils (all B types and 4H)
           - 500 GB Imation hard drive

3. Wallet (from local designer) - my blood line.... This is really important to me because I always commute and I seldom take the car

4. Beauty/grooming kit (from SM department store)

5. Blackberry curve 9230- I am not that particular with the latest gadgets, if they still work, I'll still use them

6. Casio Scientific calculator- for emergency computations HAHAHA

7. A Year in High heels by Camilla Morton- this is like the lifestyle and etiquette guide book for ladies! It's a must read!

8. Starbucks 2014 planner- I always want things to be planned because time is too precious

9. Android tablet- I only use this for ebook reading and checking my instagram and email

So this is my "Regular" basis items in my bag! I know you could see someone's personality through his or her bag so I might create another post like this in the future to see if there's some changes with it.

Last October 18 I graduated from college with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Architecture at De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde. 3 weeks had passed when my family surprised me for a treat in the Spiral buffet at Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
the Spiral staircase

Spiral restaurant, interiors

La Veranda, Art Deco inspired interiors

There were 21 dining ateliers in Spiral which are:

- Salad and Appetizer- L’Écailler- Sushi, Sashimi- L’Epicerie- Hot Japanese- French Stove- Rotisserie- Wood fired Oven- Churrasco- North Indian- Asian Noodles- Peking Duck Oven- Steam Baskets- Chinese Wok- Filipino- Thai- Korean- La Boulangerie- La Patisserie- Chocolaterie - Creamery

The spiral was damaged during the storm surge in 2011 which flooded almost all of the ground floor area of Sofitel. A year after, the New spiral opened with new improved interiors and cuisines.

I was not able to get a picture of the 21 ateliers because the management doesn't allow it anymore... (Maybe some new rules) anyway, I just snapped images of my plate (or let's say plates).

this one is from the italian atelier... I just remembered that i need to picture it when I was already half way done

Prime rib, lamb and sausages

Sashimi and Peking duck

this one is from french atelier

CHEESE!!!! and cold cuts

fruits and white wine (Sovignon blanc)

cleared picture for fruits
